LAND HO, Let the Good Times Roll for Seniors in Scenic Iceland
LAND HO is a beautifully shot film throughout Iceland. It is written & dir. by Amer. filmmakers, Aaron Katz (Pilgrim's Song '12) & Martha Stephens (Cold Weather '11.) Interestingly, these 2 young, Amer. filmmakers not only capture the majestic landscape of Iceland but the friendship between 2 grizzled old men; retired yet not ready "to walk off into the sunset." Mitch contacts his ex-bro-in-law Colin, & convinces him to go on an all expense paid vacation by him to Iceland. Colin is still grieving the loss of his wife. He is the more sedate of the pair. Mitch, is vociferous & over-bearing but both are likable, kind hearted men who find themselves living alone at this late stage in life. Yet, both are open to adventure & the possibilities of companionship. Mitch although controlling, is a man of mirth & generous spirit. Mitch's zest for living soon melts away Colin's reserve. They find themselves having fun & allowing for new experiences like the "bursting geyser" they watch with glee. As Mitch say's "Life is too short to sit still. Nice thing is, good time are still to come." This charming buddy road trip movie is a tribute to companionship and the joys in store for those who remain forever young at heart. LAND HO is a must GO. "Grow old with me, the best is yet to be." (R. Browning)
